MIKHAIL ZHUKOV

Mikhail Zhukov is one of the Moscow "shade" stage leaders. For about 10 years already he has been performing with "Non-Light Music Orchestra" created by him. In the 80-s he brought many sensations and produced "much ado" taking part in many newjazz projects: in Sergei Kuryokhin and Serguei Letov's ensembles, in "Asphalt", "Immunity" and "Krysha" (Roof) groups. In 1990-s Mikhail Zhukov collaborates with singe Saynkho. He also had played drum academic music in Mark Pekarsky's ensemble and rock ("Zvuki Mu"), "Mamonov and Alexei". 1992-1993 Russian-German band "The Documenta Band". Since early 80-s Mikhail Zhukov plays with Valentina Ponomareva, Dror Feiler, Vladimir Chekasin, Werner Ludi, Boris Grebenshchikov, Valentina Goncharova, Svetlana Golybina, Sofia Gubaidulina, Natalia Pshenichnikova.
Zhukov is an extraordinary drummer, who carries out his own rhythm and sound ideas. He often gives up making a massive rhythm frameworks and creates a very special resonant aura, he sings by means of rustles, squeaks and creaks of his instruments over partner's playing.
One of his latest projects is his solo project for drum instruments. The project is of obvious repetitive-minimalist character; being based on composed improvisation paradoxical concept.
